"What is a woman without hopes, dreams, goals and wishes?
All that she is, is her desires and accomplishments . . .
True beauty is not inherited - it is forged." - Nishi
Date: July 10, 2002
I'm 25 and am studying for the New York State Bar Exam. I've graduated from law school
and am ready to work as an attorney, but I'm dissatisfied with life and want to accomplish more.
I don't want to work forever as a lawyer . . . I dream of greater things . . .
Date: October 16, 2003
I'm 26 and finished working as an insurance defense litigation attorney at a firm in Manhattan (NYC) from Feb 2003 - Sept 2003
and learned I not only hate ins. def. litigation but I hate practicing as an attorney and that my
real happiness is in singing, writing, and in one day a career based on my legal education but all about drafting legal and social policy that affects human rights and international affairs. I'm looking for a new job
as an attorney and am saddended thinking that this may be all that is in life for me :( I so badly don't want that to be the case - I can't stand thinking I'll only be an attorney and nothing more - I have too many dreams, wishes and goals....I HAVE to make them come true! For my own sake...for the sake of my own happiness.
Hopes . . .
As I wrote in Secret Wishes, my greatest hopes lie in
becoming the woman I've always dreamed of, and of having the kind of love and life I've always
pictured. But in pursuing that, I have many things I want to do . . .
This page is here so that I can never forget what it is I want for myself. So that it serves as
constant reminder of what I have made as goals, and to urge me to complete them.
Dreams . . .
- I want to be involved in international politics and foreign affairs - I want to bring
my own insight and perspective on how the U.S. should relate to countries, and better our
relations with the world as a whole. I really feel this current Bush administration made
things worse and that "American arrogance" and "hatred for America" is the predominant
characterization and feeling foreigners have about the U.S. I want to change that.
- I want to develop my creativity - I write songs, poetry, and fiction, and I sing as well. I
want to produce a demo tape of the music I have written, and publish my own CD. Who knows if I'll ever
get played on the radio or become famous, but I just want the songs I've written to be put to
music and to be on hard copy form and for people to hear them - to be moved by them, touched by them....I love my music and invested so many tears and feelings
into it...I want to share it. I also love to draw but I've never developed
this desire and I want to keep pursuing it and learn how to paint. I've played the violin forever, but my real
passion is the piano and guitar. I want to learn them.
- I want to develop physical skills such as karate, swordsmanship and ice skating.
Goals . . .
- 1. Make a CD of 10 of my songs
- 2. Masters in Political Science
- 3. Involvement in international political organizations to raise awareness of cultures and their problems and how the U.S. can help.
- 4. Dedicate time each week to taking lessons/classes in piano, guitar, drawing/painting, foreign languages.
- 5. Finish my books, short stories....
- 6. Take classes/lessons in karate, swordsmanship, and ice skating
- 7. Keep jogging every day or go to a gym and take aerobic classes or get a personal trainer.
Wishes . . .
My wish is to be powerful in effecting better understanding and relations between the U.S. and other nations. My wish is that
I find a country or countries which I can focus on and learn their language to better help.
My wish is that people hear my songs and love them. That I am able to really move and touch people with my singing voice and songs
I've written....
My wish is that my career does not intrude upon my interests - that I have the time to learn to draw/paint, ice skate, take Karate and swordsmanship and piano and guitar lessons/classes.
That I have time to devote to my music and writing, reading Japanese manga and watching anime. Then only will I be complete in who I am.
My wish is that I never forget these goals, and most importantly, have the drive and discipline to
make these hopes, dreams, and goals come true.
